Is it really is that blue ?

This is another plant that I've considered, but never tried to date ...

Under my growing conditions, it is dark Royal Blue in color, darker and more blue than in the photo. Royal Blue is a deep blue color with a hint of purple. A
A lady who handles orders at Lyon 's once advised me that the strongest, best growers are their older varieties. At the time I got this, I was building a basic collection. The blooms are large and very full. The contrast with the forest green color leaves is pleasing.

Here's my Simpler Times. It's just a young plant, from a leaf of Joanne's. I really like it, with it's large blooms.

It could be that the leaf I sent you had more of the purple gene in it than the blue, that is why your flower is more purple than blue. That is just a guess. In the process of doing some research to find out what causes a flower to show more of the blue, I revisited the Lyon's website. They seem to have redone it, with a lot of the AVs missing that were there a few days ago. Maybe they are just temporarily out of stock, or maybe they are phasing some out. Joanne
