Trudi's seed envelopes

Hi Wintersowers!

I have been having trouble finding the little plastic baggies where I live. The clerk at Walmart says the drug dealers buy them as soon as they get them in stock. Nice thought, huh? I've received lots of homemade envelopes in trades recently, but I don't care for the ones where the two ends tuck into one another, because I end up spilling seeds everywhere when I open it up! Anyway, I stumbled on a thread with a link to your printable envelopes, Trudi, and just wanted to thank you for taking the time to do that. I just printed out several, and they are GREAT!!!

There was one common perennial that I didn't see on there, so I thought I would suggest it - Aquilegia (Columbines).

Hope everyone else loves these as much as I do! Lots of room to write info on there, and they're FREE!!!

Bonnie, have you looked at hobby shops for the plastic baggies? I like to buy those in the bead departments because they are a little thicker and have a recessed top which makes opening the baggie easier.

For trading I use the 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" baggies to cut down on weight, bulk. For myself I use the 3 3/4" x 2" because they file well with my paper coin envelopes.

Here we have Joanne's Fabric and Michaels. I think I got mine at Joanne's Fabrics.

Just a thought, I used to get a catalog from a plastic bag supply house that had everything from small snack size bags to bags that would fit a computer in. They were a commercial supplier and had trash bags of all sorts, and I used to buy the bags to slip over LP's and 45's etc.

Has anyone ever tried this source. you would be ordering a box of 500 - 1000 I think.

Mnwsgal, part of the problem is that I live in a somewhat rural area, so there are no craft stores within an hours drive of me.

Wiley, I found one place (see link), but the problem is that the shipping was going to be $6.33, which is more than the product itself. It would cost me a total of $13.55 for 1000 baggies. If it wasn't for the shipping cost, it would be a pretty good deal though.

    Thank you Bonnie!

I have about forty to finish and then I'll upload the perennials files. The holidays, and other things, have diverted my time and attention, but I will get back to work on the packets in a few more days. After perennials I have to next work on herbs and veggies ;-)

I order my plastic seed packets from ArPlast. I do get 10K at a time but they should handle smaller orders.

    Those are great!
If you google seed packet template there are many others out there, too. Here's a site with a long list of them. Not as nice & big as Trudi's, but similar design.

Trudi, the mail order baggies are a great deal if you are ordering in bulk, but the shipping charges are crazy high for small orders. That site offers 1000 2"x3" baggies for $4.10, but the shipping to my zip is $12.13! I think I'll take Irisgirl up on her offer, LOL!

Mmqchdygg, thank you for that link. I had no idea there were so many templates out there for making your own packets!
