Congratulations! Silver_cat!

What is cowslip used for? I am curious?

Silver Cat, congratulations! Will your basil sprouts be ok left out uncovered during the next hard freeze? I have read here of 2 different schools of thought: for about 27* and below some cover sprouts of tender crops like basil & others do not. I know that you ws'd last year. What is your experience with freezing temps & sprouts of tender crops? I have zinnias that have just barely sprouted so I am curious. Thanks, go zone 8!

The only thing I lost was cosmos because I was a n00b and put it out in January. I sowed tomatoes and tender perennials 17 Feb last year and they did great, no additional covers.

The basil is a little experimental but it is on the winter sowing list, and I can sow more if they don't make it. The weather warms up so quickly I'm trying to push things earlier...

I'm not going to cover them. We'll see. The jugs are all closed still. I have them in partial sun so they don't bake, but enough to keep them about 37-40ð at night.

@firsthouse mp, I wanted cowslip for an almost full shade spot-- didn't know the uses for it-- seems to be a sedative and good for wine-making. :D

California poppy sprouted today.

@carolyn, heh, 8 won't win Zone Wars but at least we get first sprouts. :P

Yeh, we got sprouts! Manda has good sprouts. Thanks, Silver Cat, I am experimen
