Never too old

I just had a sweet conversation with my father-in-law. He's 84, and he's learning how to winter sow. He tried a couple containers last year, but forgot the drainage holes, and his seedlings drowned. He's back for another try, with 11 milk jugs, new soil, and seed. He called for a refresher course in WSing, I reminded him about the drainage holes, and he's off and planting. His first container is rudbeckia.

He's such a nice man, a real gentleman. I hope he has a very successful WS experience this year. He's living proof that you're never too old to learn a new skill in the garden (or anywhere else!).
