Murray mower/ Briggs & Stratton engine gear problem

Have ride on Murray mower with Briggs & Stratton 10hp engine.

Starts and runs great but gear lever will not engage and mower at standstill..... Obviously problem between lever mechanism and gear box. Anyone had same prob and able to offer advice?!!

With no more specific information than that (no year model, no model number, whether a manual shift or hydrostatic transmission) I can only suggest that you look to see if the ground drive belt has jumped off a pulley or broken.
