I've WSed them several times, they do great. Caesar's Brother is one of my faves, the progeny are so close in appearance that I would say that the plant is stable and should reproduce truly. I've also WSed some other bluey-purple, some white and yellows. I don't know the name of their parent plants because it was a gift of mixed seed--but they were all lovely when they bloomed the second year. When you grow them from seed the blooms are a bit mousy the first year, they second year they're so much better and the third year is just a stunner--and the clumps get huge too.

I winter sowed Siberian iris on February 5 and got germination April 10 here in zone 7a. It took three years to see a bloom but it was worth the wait.

Sounds great. Does anyone know who sales the seeds. I have checked a few places but have not been able to locate any yet.

The ones I planted from seeds took 2 or 3 years, I can't remember, but are worth the wait! and spread so great. They are not invasive. Rather clumping. Dived happily.(I use a hatchet)
I use mine in my ditch garden as they stop soil erosion. Even when no longer blooming the reeds and pods are adorable.
They look great in containers too. I pair them with red geraniums, saphire lobelia, alyssum (white) and variegated vinca vines. Simple yet classic.
I can't wait to play in the real dirt. I feel like I live in the tundra right now.

Auntyara that sounds nice. Good idea.
I feel like I live in the frozen tundra too. We got pounded by snow this afternoon and still are. I am wondering if I will even be able to get to work tomorrow. I can't wait to see some GREEN again. Which right now sounds like a fairy tale in a land far far away! lol
