I'll be doing mine in mid March, same as the tenderest annuals. Our weather is so unpredictable, they might germinate too early if you sow them now. Supposed to be back into the 60s next week.

I do mine first or second week in March, depending on when the mood hits me. I sow my peppers about a week or two after my tomatoes. We have that unpredictable thing here too, in the 60's one day and down in the 30's the next.

I do mine 2/8 each year that is my start day here in South NJ. Seems they will start comming up after like 3 warm periods, since this is the bulk of what I winter sow trying to get it down to a fine art.

I was planning on Feb., but not sure whether early, mid or late was better.

mlcom, can I assume you've had success doing them in early Feb.? Any advice would be helpful since this is my first year doing tomatoes or any veggies this way.

I'm in zone seven and I put out my tomato seeds about the middle of February. It's just because in January and February I'm doing my perennials and hardy annuals. I get around to the tender stuff by that time.

Experiment! See what works for you and learn from the experience. Nobody knows your garden and climate better than you. WS is flexible to the WSer.
