One more soil note :)

Yesterday I checked with my local nursery-

he will sell a bale [3.8 compressed cubic feet] of his own specially-made soil for $20.00.

Cost wise it works out about the same as a 15-lb bag of store-bought for $7.00- which, as many of us have seen, is chancy as far as quality.

I am not in need of any more soil for WS'ing, but if I were, or later for containers, I would go in with someone and buy a bale.

It is fine stuff! You can put your hand in it and feel how light and porous it is.

Plus if you buy from a local nursery you are supporting an individual, instead of a corporation. This particular person has been in the same location for 50 years, and that makes me feel good about spending my money with him.

Plus he remembers me from year to year (even tho I am hardly a big buyer - about 2 Rosemary's a year. lol)

I get the same meticulous attention from him as someone who is dropping a couple of hundred dollars.
