How would these 'containers' work?

I've been saving containers for a little while and thought I had a lot, but there aren't nearly as many as I thought. So, here's what I was wondering:

I have 4 large windows that we removed from our house in a remodel last year and I've been saving them to use maybe for a future greenhouse. I also have a huge pile of straw bales that I got from a pumpkin fest nearby late last year that I was planning to use for pathways through some overgrown areas at our house (I've found that nothing keeps weeds down like a thick layer of straw!). Anyway, last fall we tilled up an area for this year's garden. We also got a large trailer full of horse manure that is still sitting out there, in the trailer, hopefully aging properly. I was planning to till the whole pile of manure into the garden before transplanting but now my thought is that I can dump bags of wetted soil out there now and plant seeds under the glass using the straw bales to completely surround the plants and support them. Then I could transplant the plants to where they need to go when the time is right and just topdress with the manure. What do you all think of that?

Are there flaws in the plan that I don't see? I'm really pretty new at sowing seeds and gardening in general (I've just read a lot of books for ideas) and I need a bit of handholding! Thanks!

Alina
