My 1st WSing convert!!!

So this is my third year of WSing, and usually when I start evangelizing about WSing, people's eyes glaze over, but a couple of weeks ago, when I was at the Walmart garden center (checking to see if the seeds were out yet, of course), I started telling the lady that worked there about it. Today when I ran into her, I was ready with one of Trudi's brochures. She was so excited she gave me a big hug! She said she already had about a dozen milkjugs saved up. When I ran into her again as I was leaving, she said she'd already told two more people about it, and was going to make copies of the brochure.

I can't believe I finally found someone that doesn't think I'm just some gardening extremist!

    Way to go!
When I tell someone they stare at me as though I have a third eye on my forehead.
My grown children shake their heads when they see all my jugs sitting out there.
Oh well jokes on them. My yard looks as nice as I can get it and it won't cost me a second mortgage!!

    OMG, I'm in a cult!
    LOL!

Good work, Bonnie! I haven't converted anyone yet, but I sure have been evangelizing by sending links to wintersown.org out to my friends. I bet I will manage to snag converts when spring comes. :)

I converted my mother-in-law, only she's zone 10 LA and I'm zone 5 IL so I get more mileage out of it. ;)

    Oh wow.
I can just imagine the wonderful things she can grow in zone 10.
    ((((((((((((((zone envy)))))))))))))))))))

My DIL's are saving juice jugs for me. I think they know what works for me will trickle over to them in the form of some free plants!
Next year I'm betting they do their own!

    Send them over for seeds!

Oh yeah, Bakemom! Thanks for the reminder!

You know, when I say anything that starts with the words, seeds, garden, wintersowing, etc., my kids and DH automatically quit listening. I was just thrilled that someone was actually interested in hearing about it! It made my day!

jspeachyn5, I used to envy her zone 10 until I realized there are a lot of things she can't grow that I can, things that require cold. Many spring bulbs (we get bigger tulips), cherries, apples, etc. She can't grow greens except in winter because it's too warm, forget about kale or carrots. But yeah, this time of year when she calls me up to tell me about harvesting fresh strawberries in 70 degree weather? Zone envy big time!

I haven't exactly converted my husband but he is an enabler. Yesterday he came home with a clear milk jug and a 2-liter he'd nicked out of a neighbor's recycling bin. I have, however, completely corrupted my kids (ages 5 and 2 1/2). They have their own boxes of seeds which Mommy has made a solemn vow not to raid. :) My daughter now checks every container to see if it's good for winter sowing!

ohoh i got one to...and I have not seen my 1st sprout yet... actually.. bakemom and agirlsgirl did all the work..she was here when the seed envie came in..So i had to explain why I was getting all these seeds.
Corabee is her name...so ya'll say hi if ya see her.

I asked my mom and sisinlaw to join me. They had to say yes as I shared seeds. My mom is a nurse and busy so on her day off I went over and WS some of the seeds she had. She asked the other day if there were more that would be ok to put out.
My sisinlaw says she is looking forward to it, I'm not sure yet if she will do it. Two toddlers are a lot to overcome. She is spunky though.

UUMMMM - I think you converted me before the Walmart lady:))

I was watering my jugs and I have sprouts!! It looks like one got cooked but I'm not going to dwell...

I have 8 milk jugs that now need extra TLC. YEAH!!

    Thanks Bonnie -

Know the feeling. My first class was to a group of Master Gardeners, then a community class of about 12 (mostly Master Gardeners), the next year I had 24, and this year I had over 50 enthusiastic attendees...they even gave me a standing ovation when I finished...of course they were already standing when they applauded. I've also converted the technician at the optomotrists office.

I gave some winter sowing gifts this year (a prepped jug, baggie of soil and seeds and instructions. Most were like "ok, not sure that I'll do this", but one lady thought it was cool and wanted to give the same gift to a SIL. The only problem was I wanted something quick and with wow factor, so I gave some annuals. It was too early to start them at Christmas.
