African Violets

brown leaves

I ordered a space violet from the well known provider of these, paid I think $38 and it arrived covered in thrips. After numerous emails and a promise to refund or replace, I got nothing. I have been treating this for months now with Conserve. Now the leaves are turning brown one at a time (I pinch them off when they do). Should I just suck it up and toss it?

Pictures would help. There are various reasons for brown leaves and they all can look a bit different. If your browned leaves are at the outer edges of your plant, it may be just the natural aging and die-off of the leaves.

But, a picture would help!

If you post the name of the Space Violet, maybe someone on the Forum has it and can send you a leaf so you can
recoup your losses. that many thrips are scary. See Irina's
post on thrips on another thread. One or two are easy to get rid of, but that many sounds like a problem.
