I also pond.

Totally great photos!! I've had a pond now for about 2 decades. Started out with a small 60 gallon preform (which I still have and used to use as my indoor holding tank in winter) and then as usual, wound up digging larger and deeper. Now I'm up to 1000 gallons and I'm hitting my head wondering why I didn't make it bigger 4 years ago when I last expanded! LOL I think I'd stop at 2000 - would have to because where the pond is I couldn't physically extend any further (unless I went deeper... and as it is it's already 4 1/2 feet in some spots!)

Umm... the toad eating the baby bird really is kinda gross... but did he really manage to swallow the whole thing?!! I love fairy fern, but my koi gobble it up like candy. Never seems it can grow fast enough in the pond and I usually have to set that growing in a water bowl and then I throw in handfuls when it's overflowing in the bowl.

What kind of liner are you using? I used Xavan the last time. How easy was that!! I could manage the liner easily by myself (although I did have help) it was so lightweight!!

I pond as well. I've had mine for almost two years. I have yet to see a snake slithering out of the rocks and I hope I don't.

I love snakes! ;)

If I had some garters around, maybe they'd take care of the field mice that have decided the pond retaining wall was a good place to hang out.

No frogs have made it to my pond, though. Just fish, bugs, an occasional heron (chased away by the Scarecrow I have set up), raccoons (who still try and catch the koi, but the high retaining wall keeps it pretty much impossible for them to manuever to catch any), wildbirds that bathe and drink from the pond, and a regular stray cat that also drinks from the pond.
