Wow what a story. I am not sure to your question, but it seems to me that your fish is a survivor. As a Betta owner, I hope someone here on this forum can give you that information. If not, check the internet on Bettas.

Thank you..I hope someone may know the answer too.It is so sad to see him swim. I know it must be a big effort for him to swim around. His top fin is stiff and about 1/2 of all other fins are stiff and don't move. He had the most beautiful fins before this happened.

He probably suffered some nerve damage as a result of his ordeal. Unfortunately that may be a permanent condition. I had a betta once that also jumped out of his tank and it probably had been there for more than an hour. Whatever the case, I managed to revive it and kept it alive for a short period. Unfortunately, it eventually died as a result of it's injuries. Bettas are airbreathers which is why they can survive outside the tank, however they do dehydrate rather quickly.

I wonder if there is some kind of treatment that you can put in the water to help soothe your Betta.

So far Flappy is doing really well. His appetite is huge and he seems to be pretty happy. I used a combo of Melafix and Stress Coat in the water. The fish person at PetSmart said they would help, especially the Stress Coat, which would help his slime coat.
