Your betta will survive, but not thrive on a purely flake diet. They are carnivores, so they'll appreciate a variety of flake, live and frozen foods. I used to feed flake, pellet, frozen bloodworms and occasionally mosquito larvae when I could get my hands on them. On day 6 most people fast their bettas and then give them a cooked shelled pea on day 7, cut up a little bit. This helps clean them out as they are prone to constipation. As long as you also have good filtration (or are doing good water changes) and have heating for your betta of about 78 degrees, he should thrive on this diet. Goodluck!
