hello, i never had any luck rooting in water. i root in 1-1-1 mix of potting soil. it takes a while to produce babys a couple months for me but i usually get from 2 to 5 babys from each leaf and if your careful when you seperate them you can replant the leaf

I have rooted leaves in both, and find that the ones rooted in water do not seem to transplant well for me into soil. The roots formed in water are different than the roots formed in 'soil' or some type of mix, so if you first root in water, they have to form a new root system when transplanted into 'soil'.
Be patient. I have some leaves that were potted in May and have yet to form babies.

Right now Im in the same boat as you. For I leafs in medium and I have one leaf in water, forget where I read this but my leaf in water is suggested to take 6wks to get good roots you dont want to rush it. I ran across something you may want to try, that may work faster for you. It looks interesting , there are pics with it.

Hm, I've always rooted in water and it works quickly and reliably (maybe 95% success rate) for me. Maybe my AV don't know they're supposed to prefer soil! In fact until reading this forum I didn't know you could plant the mother leaf after it roots but before baby leaves formed. I've usually been able to get a blooming sized plant from a leaf in about 4 - 6 months. Can I speed this up planting the rooted leaf before I get babies?
