Bala sharks are not known for breeding in captivity. They were either playing or fighting.

Our Balas used to "dance," together right after a water change. They seemed happy and thankful. They would also make a clicking sound when they ate food wafers.

My friend keeps a pair of Balas and they would *dance* like you mentioned. If it does not look aggressive, I'd go as far as to say it may be part of a breeding behavior, like me friend believes. Balas have not been breed in captivity without use of chemical hormones in the water, so it is unlikely they will produce anything.
