Yes, was given some with the Betta I bought - same reaction. Then I was talked into another "more complete' kind of food - pinhead size rust colored 'pellets' in a cute fish shaped container, and he doesn't like them, so I called another store and was told the worms were in fact better, so that's what he's getting and is happy again.

Frozen bloodworms are better nutrition-wise for bettas, but the freeze-dried ones should be fed only as a snack. Think of them as McDonald's french fries for your betta - a good meal, tastewise, but full of fat and empty calories.

If there's one thing i can tell you about betas and their appetites it's that they LOVE live food.

...And here's a tip for those who like the idea of not having to pay anything for it. Put a container of water like a jar or a can out in the yard and look at it now and again. After a little while you'll see little dancing guys in there. These are the larvae of the dreaded mosquito.

In short,betas relish them!

You shouldn't feed blood worms as a steady diet though. It is so high in protein that the betta can get constipated. they should only be fed as a treat a couple times a week. Keep trying the pellets. He'll eat them eventually. Now that I think of it, freeze dried blood worms are really not all that great for them. They are hard and may tear the bettas stomach and intestines. If you want to feed them, go to the fish store and get some frozen blood worms. Just make sure you thaw them completly before feeding. You think they like the freeze dried, wait till they try some frozen ones!!
