I have alpine strawberry plants that I've started from seed by wsing - works great.

I bought plants last year, because the seeds I started indoors didn't germinate. Maybe I should have WS them instead.

If you grow them from seed, will you get blooms the first year?

I don't know if they will bloom the first year. I intend to seperate my seed pack into four parts as a trial.
1. Winter Sow into a milk jug with about 4 inches of soil.
2. Immediate sow into starter pack things (like square peat pots but more eco friendly if you beleive the advertising).
3. Stick it in the freezer for a month and then decide.
4. Reserve to throw into the garbage at some point in the future after the seeds fall out of the opened poorly resealed package.

I've WSed strawberries from the store and Alpine strawberry seeds that I purchased. Both do great with WSing. I just did another bunch of store bought strawberries this year-- going for more variety.
