I sent both photos to aroid botanist Peter Boyce in Malaysia and he believes this is some form of Xanthosoma. He says it is certainly not Alocasia macrorrhizos which is now common in your area although it originated in SE Asia.

Pete is one of the world's two top botanists on these and related genera.

I know some of the other Alocasia in your area well and can't put an ID on the inflorescence.

If you can post even more detailed photos showing the upper and lower surfaces of a single leaf blade, the petiole and as much detail as possible we'll see if with Pete's help we can get you an ID.

It is a native of Ecuador and found near Quito. Dr. Croat is currently in South America or I would show it to him as well. He won't return until mid March.
