May i ask how you aquired your titanium?

I'm not specifically familiar with titanum, but that looks like what my paeoniifolium does on a regular basis at it's young stage. Once the first leaf for the season gets old, it will send up a second, and in short order the first one will start withering. My bulb doesn't split in these situations. It looks like one of your leaves has been up a while and the other is just starting, so that's my best guess, fwiw.
