Hi GH, I think you will really enjoy this alocasia. It is an excellent, well behaved garden, patio, and house plant, however be prepared to repot it in the near future as it does grow fairly fast. I have it growing in a 3 gallon pot and it has rewarded me with a 4-5 foot plant with beautiful glossy tropical foliage (even when I forget to water it). No need for special treatment for this plant. It does very well in low light/partial sun situations so it is ideal in most indoor locations. Also as it grows more verticle then than horizontally it can also be used quite effectively indoors.

We grow Odora in the yard here, they eventually form large trunks and lots of offsets to make big clumps of plants. Ours take 1/2 day to full day sun, out yours in a sunny position.

We recently bought an Alocasia odora. I noticed alot of what i took to be spider mite and cleaned the leaves with a sponge and water. Since then the leaves began to dry and die. Can it be saved??????

It will sprout new growth quickly. But you want to eliminate or control the mites. I use Pharm Solutions, an organic insecticidal soap, which seems to stop the mites, but there are other brands out there. There are also stronger miticides available to specifically treat that.

How can you be sure that you all have Alocasia Odora and not Alocasia macro', they look extremely similar and the odora is often passed off as Macro' by nurseries maybe unintentionally but it does frequently happen.

Chris, I have both and I find with mine anyway, that when they are young the macro has leaves that are more upright. just my observation anyway??
