as long as your house is heated, then you should be able to do it. You could always build a terrarium.

If you want to grow Hilo Beauty I don't see any reason you can't as long as you have some room and some heat. Hilo Beauty isn't as big as the colocasias I'm growing in my living room, so if you want it go for it :)

You should probably provide humidity in the form of misting, or placing pots on a platter with wet pebbles, etc. All these aroids will sulk and brown on the tips if they only get dry air. They may have a tendency to get spider mites also. Humidity will help prevent this. Go for it and have fun!

Here's a site from a grower with good photos and culture info. Many of the smaller Alocasias are very easily grown and a weekly warm shower in the kitchen sink keeps pests away. Just don't let them get chilled. I've found that if I let them dry out a little between watering I might lose an older leaf but I avoid root rot. They do well for me in north or east window, or even across the room under a floor lamp.

Scroll down on the site and click 'Alocasias' to see more. You can of course grow the larger varieties if you have the well-lighted warm space and can perhaps haul into shower now and then for a good washdown of leaves and thorough deep watering. Good luck josh
