Are you feeding them? They grow from tubers, so I would be feeding them bulb food in the early spring and in the fall. Could be they are lacking nutrients to bring out the best color. Also, has the exposure changed any in your yard? Like, have the trees become more dense or anything like that?

No, not feeding them. Duh, the most obvious remedy to try did not come to my mind until you mentioned it. They are in pretty good soil, but maybe certain nutrients within reach of their roots are being depleted.

They are heavy feeders, I'm told. I would feed them with a high phosphorus bulb food, if it were me. Don't feel bad, I didn't have a clue I was supposed to be feeding my colocasias and alocasias until someone told me. Talk about "duh"!

I just feed my colocasias and alocasias the liquid Miracle Gro. What more does a bulb feeder have to offer?

Just have to feed less often. Bulb food is a longer-acting fertilizer, stays in the soil longer and releases at a slower rate, while the liquid is immediate and you would need to use it probably at least every other week.
