That is the same thing I have on the one I got from Dan last fall. I thought it strange that it didn't have leaves yet, and then I noticed this thing was withering! I thought the plants was good for dead until I noticed leaves coming up around the side.

Well, I am not alone. That's what this one is doing now - leaves coming up around the sides. There is still something growing right in the center behind this thing. Not sure if it's a leaf or what at this point.

Not sure all, but occassionally mine do this as well....I've got a concinnum that did it this year.....very frustrating I must say...sorry Klavier, but it will be all the more exciting when it blooms for real next year...I've had many species do this for whatever reason...go figure :o) Dan

I just bought an Arisaema costatum this summer. It is in a two gallon pot. In mid September its one stalk with three leaves got broken off. I'm figuring it will still come back...my question is what is the best way to make sure it comes back healthy next year? If I plant it in a woodsy garden bed this fall would it be happier than living in a pot on my protected porch? (min 20 degrees) What experience do you have with it being able to compete with maple roots? Any advice you can give would be much appreciated!

I can't really help you I don't think. I grow mine potted and store inside for the winter in my cold basement - min. temp of around 40 F.
