Dracunculus questions

Received some dormant D. vulgaris corms in trade from a kind member earlier in the year and planted them immediately. Will these sprout now and keep leaves over winter like Arum italicum, or will they wait till next year to sprout? I have never grown these, and they look to be gorgeous and fully hardy in my zone here, so I am anxious.

PS. Found out A italicum is not deer-proof as advertised. Bambi ate the tops off of two clumps of mine last week.
