The answer is yes but it would not be wise to try to remove it from the pot and put it in the ground in your zone. The plant will suffer greatly every time it is unearthed and you'll be set back as to the beauty. It won't survive in your climate outdoors so you'd have to take it out of the ground and put it back in the pot in the fall so you'd be defeating your end goal.

The best bet will be to give it a BIG pot and just move it in and out of the house as needed. BUT, you are going to damage it almost every time you move it since the leaves are somewhat fragile. It will need bright light so consider that before you put it in a bedroom. Most people believe these species will survive in very dim light but only a few will make it. They need moderately bright to bright light. I've grown some of this species large cousins and as long as they get good light and lots of water they will grow larger than almost any house can tolerate.

If you've read my article, you know that the Robusta is not an easy plant to grow. Many very experienced growers have tried under much better climate conditions than yours, and they have failed. One reason for this is the ultra-tropical nature of the plant, but there are other reasons.

If you have any other questions, just ask! I have bloomed the Robusta successfully and done hybridizations with it, now having Alocasia x robudora specimens growing. Much hardier and easier to grow, but still quite huge in size.
