Not really I use garden plants in pots on the patio all the time.

One pot I used common no name green/white hosta with houttuynia chameleon plant and Ostrich fern.

The Fern give the pot the height for drama, the hosta filler, the Chameleon for the falling and color effect.

I just replanted a hanging basket with a bronze carex, black mondo grass, a wispy green carex, yellow sedum, red sedum and yellow creeping jenny. All perennials and all from my garden so I spent no money. :) I looks very "autumn" too.

I didn't take any and it is pouring rain now. I'll take some if the rain stops before I go on vacation Tuesday. If not, it will have filled in more when I get back anyway.
