If it wants to grow my advice would be to let it....nature knows best I suppose. I'd pot it up and grow it in front of a south facng window for as long as it wants to grow. The only real problem is getting it to quit with this nonsense. If you had a bunch of them I'd say toss it over the hill and forget about it, but if it one of your only ones then I would grow it on. You could likely grow it until Dec. and then let it go dormant and then hopefully it will come back up again in June. As for depth, if it is a small offset then it does not need to be very deep at all and a couple of inches is plenty. If it is a large tuber then you would want it to be deeper since these guys produce long, thin petioles that are ratehr floppy under the best of circumstances. Amorphs are rather famous for deciding to grow in Sept. or even skipping a year out of spite, but I've not had a Typhonium venmosum do this before. Best of luck with it :o) Dan

Thanks, Dan. I will bring in the one bulb, and plant the other two. Although one of them looks like it might want to start growing, too. They are all about quarter size bulbs - small. I didn't expect it to grow at all yet and thought I had plenty of time to plant it out this fall.

One year I ordered some arisaema late in summer and went ahead and planted them; they sprouted, too. Do they get confused when they are dug up and moved about, do you think? Anyway, those arisaema have not come up again, so I don't know what the deal is. This was last year, and they didn't do anything this year at all. I might dig up that area and see if they are still there or if they've turned to mush.

It is a cute little thing, all spotty looking despite it's diminutive size.
