I heat most of the downstairs with wood, last fall I stacked wood high in an alcove next to the house.

Well, I'll be darned the black carpentar ants I saw outside decided to come inside, on my bathroom sink for the sugar on the Listerne bottle.

Anyway I thought I would post the recipe I have used before and it has worked for both carpentar ants and sugar or as we call them around here pi** ants.

Make a thick paste of molasses, boric acid and yeast. Spread on plates plates, try to find their trail and place it there, or if I can't find the trail I put plates on the counter.

I put this out about 2 hours ago, and already 25 to 30 ants have dined. It works by attracting the ants, the back to the nest the explode with the yeast and the boric acid kills the nest.
