In my experience 'Frydek' is one of the ones that needs good drainage. We haven't been having as much rain here a couple hundred miles to your east, and mine is looking very good, but I kept it in a pot for drainage and because I lost the last one I had in the winter. This one came in last fall and went back out in the spring. I didn't even repot it as I should have--if I had maybe I'd try a small one in the ground this winter. Now that I think about it maybe I will still! Did that with X. 'Lime Zinger' last fall and the one in the ground is about four times the size of the one in the pot, which was much bigger to start with.
