Hi, Looks fine to me....do not cut it off!!! It may grow a second petiole from here....or not.....the major growth can often consume the smaller offsets if they lag behind. Besides, if you get 2 petioles on a tuber 7" across then there is a good chance you will end up with 2 flowering size tubers next year (after another year of growth). If it is 7" in diameter then it will almost surely flower next spring (Feb-March) and then should put up a new leaf around June. I've never had a konjac fail to grow a leaf after flowering, but I just heard from a friend who said that his big one flowered and failed to grow....was that the exception that proves the rule?? Anyway, it looks great. Put it in a corner and forget about it until you see the bloom coming :o) Dan

To me that swelling looks like a spot where the bulb was thinking of putting out another offset.

One thing I tried this last season with a konjac bulb was cutting off a chunk of the bulb with one of those eyelet areas and planting it ... just like a potato .. all pieces grew.. Now you might ask why I would think of cutting up a bigger bulb to propegate smaller ones when konjac offsets like made anyway? I dont know I think I was bored that day. But I bet you this will work with species that offset less freely

Chris, certainly in India where they propagate paeoniifolius for a food crop this is the normal thing to do. They hack them into a bunch of sections and reproduce them that way. If it is your only tuber I think I'd wait another year to give it a try though :o) Dan
