Make sure the container has good drainage. If not it will drown the roots. Azaleas need 3 things: drainage, drainage, and drainage.

Nothing is going to help. The roots are either alive or dead. Wait a little longer. If the roots are alive, it will recover. If not it will die completely. It looks like it is trying to recover. Partial shade, some mulch and vigilant watering, that is watering before it gets too dry and letting it drain completely after watering thoroughly. The stem looks like it is woven. That is cute, but may lead to strangulation eventually. The stems need to be able to expand every year.

I think I can unwrap those stems too. I'll keep my fingers crossed -- no stems crossed ever again either!!
