A good deal depends on the type of shade both beds receive. Many rhododendrons will grow and bloom well in dappled shade, but will not do so well in dense shade such as that cast by a building, for example. Greer Gardens has a useful list of shade tolerant rhododendrons on its website.

Purple Gem rhododendrons need almost full sun to flourish - not at all a good choice for your conditions. 'Sneezy' is one of the Seven Dwarf rhododendrons from England. I doubt very much that it will grow well in full shade despite what Monrovia claims. It is not fully hardy in Z5, either.

George Schenk's classic book, The Complete Shade Gardener, is a great source of ideas for plants suited to all kinds and degrees of shade.

The shade is cast by a bldg soffit (overhang) so not dappled. I'll check out Greer and see what they can offer
