I have a 14-ft bed facing North and my dilemma is this. The bed gets about 2 hours of morning sun then shade for about 5 hours then about 2 more hours of sun then more shade until sunset. I was thinking about planting hydrangea macrophylla's or purple gem rhodies but was concerned that the on again off again sun might pose an issue. Does this seem like a good idea? I also have another 14-ft bed but that gets full shade and could use ideas there too, no hosta's though. I read on Monrovia's site that Sneezy Rhoadies are ok for full shade but I am concerned that it may mean they will grow but not thrive, I don't want stemmy looking rhodies.

Please help

Terry
