worms in containers

I opened my onions to trim them the other day and one container had a worm in it. Today I opened the jugs for some of the more vigorous plants and another one had a worm as well. All my potting soil was commercial, so I'm guessing the worms came in through one of the openings. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm going to assume that the worms aren't a bad thing? I left them in there.

yep this happened to me as well. I also left them in there and planted the worms and all last year. did not seem to hurt anything.

Worms are good. Worms are fertilizing your sprouts with worm "castings" (poop; aka, black gold) and they will be very happy sprouts as a result. Worms are also a sign of good, rich, healthy soil.

Yep, I've got some, too. Hey, if I can farm some extra worms in my milk jugs, so much the better! I am working hard on my soil - I started out with red clay everywhere!
