Our kitchen remodel

Cabinets will be knotty alder. Finished flooring in foreground will be removed due to kitchen floor is not level so all new flooring will be installed. We don't know if cabinets will be stained natural or what the rule is concerning matching flooring shade to cabinets or to contrast. Help!
