Beautiful. How long did they take from seed to bloom?

These are quick to bloom - 21 months for me but I have heard that the dwarf version (L.formosanum var. pricei) can be in bloom in as little as 9months from a September sowing).

I sowed them in January this year. Not sure when exactly they sprouted but I would say around April.

Nice job southern, it's a beautiful flower. I'm hoping for blooms next year, they sent up stalks this year but I just didn't water enough, and I should be grateful they're alive!
I don't believe this lily needs any cold spell to germinate, seeds can be planted anytime.

Maybe you can post a pic when yours bloom. I thought I collected seeds for a completely different lily and didn't even believe that those papery seeds would even sprout. Actually, I didn't think I could grow anything from seed when I first started. It just seemed too unreal to me that a tiny seed can grow into an actual plant.

Growing plants is just amazing. Non-gardeners are really missing out in my opinion.

I have posted about this before....but try to find one of those little eye-scopes with a magnification of 60x and internal LED - mine was called a currency scope and is used to detect watermarks and printing for fake money notes. Available in electronic stores for less than $15 (those clever Chinese). A whole amazing world of seeds at your fingertips - it revolutionised my gardening - each seed is a perfect, unique, tiny sculpture, alive with potential. An absolute trip.

Lovely! Lilies are something I've never really thought of sowing from seed, only from bulblets. I am rethinking :)

Hello everyone. I found this thread when googling, so I joined.

I live on the Gulf coast, mine came up in my back yard. I transplanted them to my more southern exposure front yard, and left them alone. I didn't know what to expect, they got gigantic, then all the sudden WOW. Gorgeous white trumpets.

I just picked my seed pods today. Sounds like rattlesnake rattlers. There's hundreds of them in a pod. I'll post pictures later if you would like. Curious about what to do with the 8ft tall brown stalk.
