Have you tried to contact ACES for specific info?

I've lived in and around Birmingham for almost 60 years. The "last frost date" most people have reliably used is April 15. I don't ever remember it frosting after that date. I have seen people plant tomatoes and other tender veggies on Good Friday in March and then have to cover the plants or the seeds rot in the ground. April 1, 1971 we had cold weather and snow in north Alabama and Georgia. It started snowing as I left Philadelphia, was sticking in Baltimore, ground was white in D.C., interstates closed in Chapel Hill, NC and it was bad driving all the way to Atlanta the next day and cold as blazes. There were patches of snow along I-20 to Birmingham. I've seen infrequent frosts in early April but we've had them. But I've never know it to frost after April 15.

Let's not forget the 3 or 4 days in a row of FREEZING temperatures in the teens last year. Hit 12 degrees here on the worst night in Central East Alabama. I believe it was Easter weekend around April 8th but someone correct me if I'm wrong That was bad but thankfully not usually the norm. I was one of those running around in the dark trying to cover everything after I got home from work lol. It stayed so cold I just left them covered for 3 straight days until night time temps went back up.

I know that's not helpful but really anything can happen. Like Terry said, April 15th is the safe bet but I always put things out earlier with the understanding I may need to be prepared to protect them and even then could still lose some. Good luck with your seeds.

Oops and I forgot about Wednesday, April 4, 1985 when it snowed and we had snow covering the pink peach blooms. No peaches that year.

Yup it was 26 officially at the B'ham Airport on 4/8/2007. Was in the mid 20's here in Morgan County on the 7th and 8th. Killed my pecan, peach, nectarine, plum and blueberry crop last year!!!

I don't know exactly how to tell you I found it but I experimented and found all I had to do was change the zip code. My zip code is 35023 in the example. Month=3 is March. Cut and paste this and when it comes up as Bessemer, replace my zip with your zip and hit enter.
