When?? The only groundhog I saw on Groundhog Day had his bags packed and was heading to Florida! LOL

I still have a lot of work to do in my yard because it's been either too cold or too wet to get it done.

I have daffodil buds forming, hydranga with buds, and sassafras showing green. Sun is shinning today and spring is around the corner.

Woo Hoo!!!

Got out this afternoon and cut back my goldflame and coral honeysuckle. They were already showing new growth. One coral honeysuckle even has a couple of blooms Come on hummingbirds.

Spring is coming - can you tell that to the snow in my back yard, please?

Look closely. The daffodils are already out of the ground and some of the flowering bushes are budding. That brightness in the Western sky is warming sunshine on the way. Wal Mart has put bags of fertilize on the shelves and the parking lot is full of bags of mulch, soli, and paving stone.

The American Goldfinch is doing just that....;-)

And today I saw mockingbirds chasing each other through my yard. A sure sign that spring will win!

My fig tree has no leaves, but a baby fig is starting to grow. It knows spring is just around the corner.

I am sure there's more cold weather coming, but today is lovely and the forecast for this week positively dreamy.

At least with my soil temp still at 33F, I can curb my enthusiasm until a more appropriate time. I would have loved to plant peas today, but the soil is not quite there yet.

I just hope it dries out a little. My yard still has leaves from last Fall that need to be mulched, bagged and added to my compost pile. It's tough getting things done when five days a week you leave before daylight and get home after dark.

I may actually wear short-sleeved shirts to work this week!

My Carolina jessamines and red maples are putting on buds. They should be flowering in a couple more weeks.
