Yep, it's music to my ears! Nothing like a downpour hitting on the tin roof at night.

    Hi Danielle,
We got 3/4 inch here, how bout you? And about noon today, I went outside to let the dogs run, and it was spitting tiny snow flakes...the wind is awful too. Brrrr....cold, cold, stuff. I'm so ready for spring.

We were told today that all the water reservoirs for the Auburn-Opelika area are now full. So the drought has really lessened here. I am glad we are getting the winter rains that they had predicted we wouldn't get.

    Hi Jan!

I don't have a rain guage set up in the yard yet but according to weather.com our zip code recorded 1.3 inches. According to the site so far we're exceeding the average rainfall totals for this time of year so go figure. Today I drove from Heflin, AL to Stone Mountain GA and back (about a 4 hour round trip) to pick up some shelving material for the greenhouse and it was snowing a little too at lunch time there. A few flakes here at home when I got back as well. I had no idea the temperature was going to drop so drastically today so it was quite a shock walking out my door this morning in a short sleeved shirt!

Our main floor heater hasn't worked in three weeks while a part is on order so we're gonna' be bundled up tonight. On top of that, our water just stopped working about 5 hours ago so my father-in-law and I had to drag some 300 feet of heavy water-filled line and electrical cable out of our well just as the sun went down and the temps were already below freezing. Nothing like inspecting 300 feet of wet electrical cable (disconnected of course) bare-handed on a sub-freezing night in the dark with only a pocket flashlight. We couldn't find any damage so it looks like we'll be replacing the pump tomorrow =(

Not that any of that had to do with the rain but I just wanted to gripe lol! Trailrunner, glad to hear the rainfall is being spread around. I also seem to recall them predicting a dry winter. Shows what they know and I hope they continue to be proved wrong through the coming seasons.

That's great news Trailrunner....I've noticed that farm ponds in our area are full again too, but Lake Martin is still pretty low although it has come up a few feet lately. Haven't heard since the last rainfall.
Danielle...sorry to hear about all you recent problems, seems like when it rains it pours (no pun intended) LOL, doesn't it. I know exactly what you mean about pulling the pipe and electrical lines on your well...been there, done that. Hope you get all your problems fixed soon.
You're right, only God knows what the future holds and He's still in control, thank goodness! :)

Thanks Jan. The submersible pump was burned out so we replaced it today and it works like a champ now. Today I loved the sound of running water through the tap almost as much as the aforementioned rain on the tin roof lol. We're back in buisness as far as that's concerned. You've been there, done that so I know you'll sympathize when I say boy, my arms are SORE.

Yes, when it rains it does pour lol. On top of the heat and water a delivery driver accidentally took out the gate and the electric opener keypad on the mill side of the property last week and the following day the gate to our house driveway was mysteriously damaged as well. Looks like someone bent the bolts right out of the side of the post although the gate itself looks undamaged. So much stuff needs fixin' around here but at least we never get bored lol! At least he didn't hit the gate solar panels.

It's raining in Huntsville now and I'm being grateful for every drop!

I had almost an inch of rain today! We need all we can get here in Pinson.

I'm in the natural gas business, and just last Friday the crew was digging up a service line. Down less than a foot the ground was slighty damp. Two feet down was bone dry.

It's going to take much more rain before we're back to normal.

We got more rain here today...along with lots of tornado warnings! Thank goodness the bad stuff missed us. My prayers are with those of you who suffered damage and injury during this latest severe weather outbreak.
Pat and Lynn, I hope ya'll are ok over Prattville way. I know it was lots of damage near you Pat.
