Forrest, I'm sorry I missed you the show. I had planned to go but one of those grandkid things came up. Maybe next year.

Thanks Dorie, I only took a few photos at Birmingham but here is one. This was the winning Tray of 3 Miniatures, which was a miracle after 4 hours of jiggling on the backseat of my truck! The variety is 'Grace Albritton.' You see the nice awards they give, this particular one was a crystal serving tray. (Not a bad payoff for a walk in the garden.) The whole room was an absolute ocean of color and breathtaking to see, row upon row of magnificent blooms. The Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a great setting.

A camellia show in the south is still a pretty special thing. And we are fortunate to have some of the best here in the Camellia State, with some obviously splendid winter gardens. I will try to round up some more photos and post a new thread.

OMG, how perfectly beautiful! Tell me, did you have to (or are you allowed to) do anything to these plants to get them to open up in such a perfect fashion? Ice water?

They look like little wax sculptures, air-brushed by an artist.

I've been to a Camellia show, either in Savannah or Charleston (can't remember), and it was something I'll never forget. I wish I could have gotten to this one.

Forrest, those are the most perfect little blooms ever! And the leaves are so glossy and healthy looking too. They almost look unreal, they are so perfect. I can see why they won that prize!
