It's way too early to begin subtracting from the landscaping. For example, echinaceae absolutely dies back to the roots every year. Give it some time. Last year, though we had some seriously cold temperatures, ours came back just fine and I expect it to do so this year, as well.

Remember, it's only late February. We've only had just a few days of warm temperatures.

Two signs of spring in our yard have been the regrowth of several sedums from the base....AND huge flocks of migrating robins in the yard! They're stopping over on their way up 'Nawth'. We have robins that live here year round but the big flocks are just traveling through.

I agree it is way too early to start worrying about your plants. I have some that won't show any sign of life until late April or early May.

Yay! I wasn't sure whether since spring comes a bit earlier to this part of the world than the one I'm used to, whether my plants were goners. Thanks bunches!

Remember that in this area the last freeze date is considered to be April 15, so you have a long way to go yet. The major blizzard of '93 hit on March 12-13th, so you don't want a lot of tender new growth popping out now. Hang on, it'll come. In the meantime enjoy the daffodils and crocuses. :-)

I found a slight bit of bronze fennel poking up today, which I thought might have been dead. So, I have hope that I will see some echinacea, anyway. The rosemary will be alright, but I have a lot of dead branches on it that will have to be pruned back. I'm not convinced the hypericum ascyron made it, but I just started more seeds of that in case it didn't.
