Yes, I got this plant from a division from susan a few years ago, and since
I have dug up offspring from the spreading 3' wide clump a couple of times for other people.

I try to get as much roots as I can, and the division would look wilted and sad, but would tend to recover after a couple of weeks. Its one of those durable plants that doesn't disappear in the winter. I like it.

Did you dig the whole thing up to divide it?

No, I would just dig some offshoots from the main clump, where it is spreading. (it seems to spread slowly with underground runners...but notfar and wide like japanese anemone.) Getting a good offshoot with some roots is easier than digging up the whole clump, which i'll probably have to do someday.

Now that we know how to divide them may I ask a question? Will they grow and thrive on the Gulf Coast? So far I have not had any luck with them here, and most places they grow like weeds? Any idea about what I am doing wrong?

Is it best to divide the daisies in the fall or wait for spring?
