Unless there is a freeze, they shouldn't have any problem. I have thinned out and moved hosta at this time of year before without any problem.

I split several of mine a day ago and plan to do more this weekend. The rain was a nice blessing for the hostas.

This is a great time to divide them. Just whack them with something strong and sharp. I use the end of a shovel that has been sharpened at the tip. They just make so many babies.

Actually, this is a really good time to transplant hosta....You certainly don't want to wait any later when it is hot. You might have bad or uncertain results. Another time is in the fall when it has cooled down a bit.
