I have used Michigan Bulb and Spring Hill in the past.

a lot of negative comments have been reported about the nursery at tyty, georgia. shipped plants are tiny and not in good condition.
bluestone perennials and forest farm are reported to be good ones but i have no experience with either.
i would give mail order natives a good evaluation, too.
classic viburnums, pendulous plants and northern grown perennials (hosta source) were very accomodating and helpful.
you could visit the garden watchdog for a list of the good, the bad and the ugly. ;-)

I lost faith in Garden Watchdog when, apparently after threats of legal action, they backed down to TyTy Nursery & removed all of their reviews, about 90% of which were highly negative. Why have such a page on your website if you're not prepared to take the heat from businesses unhappy about their customer reviews?

It's hard to beat Park's Seed Company. In nearly 30 years of buying from them, I've never had one bad experience.

For bedding plants and veggies, however, I buy locally from county co-ops, Lowes, and smaller nurseries.

Huntsville Botanical Garden has their spring plant sale this weekend. Sales to the public start Friday and run thru Sunday. Plant Delights in No Carolina is pretty good but make sure you get plants that are out of dormancy. I've had to get them to replace plants that haven't come out yet & taht is frustrating. Brent and Becky's bulbs are pretty good too and I've ordered DL's from a couple of places and been pleased. For shrubs I have used Greer Gardens for unusual shrubs (mostly dwarf varieties that I couldn't find here) but I haven't used them in a while since my local nurseries have gotten better at carrying now. I'm with Sundog and others...mostly use my local nurseries when I can. It has to be a really unusual variety for me to order anymore.

The on-line nurseries I have been most pleased with are Lazy S Farms nursery and Sunlight gardens, a native plant nursery in Tennessee. Both have sent good sized plants, and Lazy S especially packs them super well. Plant delights has sent me a few plants in the past that barely had much of a root system, so the plants really had to be babied at least one season in order to make it. I love their catalog but try not to spend money there anymore.

My favorites mailorder companies are Bluestone Perennials, Forest Farm, High Country Gardens and Brent and Becky's. They have never disappointed me. I also pop into Lowe's from time to time, but plants are sometimes mislabeled there.

I agree Brent and Becky's is a great source for bulbs and really good customer service. I order bulbs from them most years. I only ordered form High Country Gardens once but they sent very nice plants packaged well.

I'll have to add that since I didn't find much I was looking for in Daylilies this year at the plant sale, I ordered from Roots and Rhizomes, which was recommended by someone I knew. I was very pleased with the size and quality of what I received. Not as good as getting some divisions from a good friend - ;~) - but an acceptable substitute. They also sent 6 free metal plant markers & a pencil; a nice surprise. I have ordered from Brent & Becky's in the past and ditto the above comments.

Thank you all. I've ended up getting some great divisions from coworkers this spring. But I will need to plug in some holes as the summer progresses. New (to me) yard seems to have endless places for plants!
