"Early Sunrise" Coreopsis (yellow bloom) & Victoria Blue Salvia look lovely together and will bloom until frost.

Well ya'll just added two long blooming perennials to my list. I've always wanted to plant the coreopsis and tall phlox. Now I know I've gotta get em'!!!!

QueenBee, I can give you tall growing perennial phlox. I consider them antique as mine are from plants my mother got over 50 years ago. They are the deepest shade of pink, hugh heads when they bloom, bloom all summer, and smell great.

Mimidi, do you have seed or plants? I would love to have some perennial phlox. If you have seed, I would be glad to swap,pay postage or whatever. Diane

Gee, sometimes I feel so dumb. I have tons of Phlox in my northern garden, but nerver knew they would grow here. My pink ones never get milldew, but the other colors do. I wonder if my pink ones are the same as yours Mimidi, as mine came from my Grand mothers garden which must have been 70 or so years old. They will for sure be added to my list of "Bring South Plants" this fall. It's nice to have care free plants so my garden has color all summer without my being here. You all made my day with this post. :-)

mimidi you are so generous! i have admired phlox but haven't grown any.

In my experience the cupheas are some of the longest blooming perennials around. My Candy Corn Cuphea and C. macropetala have way out performed anything else out there and are the top favorites of the hummers that visit my yard followed by impatiens of various kinds.

definitely gaillardias. my tall ones are just starting to bloom and will bloom until after the first few light frosts. and my wine cups are showing color and will bloom in a few days. they also bloom till frost. blue bedder salvia blooms all summer till frost.

I have enjoyed my toad lily (tricyrtis). They are unique and not widely grown and I don't know why. They have been fool-proof in several locations for me. Toad lily likes partial shade.

I just bought some gaillardias at Lowes. I am glad to know they will do well in our area.
