One of my Red Crape Myrtles died...POUT...I do not know what happened...It is a little tree only about 3ft tall, a little sprout WAS coming up from the base. BUTT my husband weed whipped it down..(insert eye roll and slap to forehead here)

I want to try to see if the roots are still alive...Should I cut down the dead tree or just leave it and hope sprouts come up again???

Now that the hubby has been properly informed as to what a Crape Myrtle sprout looks like hopefully he will not whip it down again...(oh boy)
