There ya go, just chill out, have a glass of wine (or three), and go from there! Your front yard doesn't stink, you've done a great job and I so admire you. (I think I've had my three). I made a Mexican casserole tonight; my husband liked it, I didn't. Oh well...

ahhh, time to do the fishmeal/alfalfa pellet thing ...? and make split pea soup too? you're a dynamo, Sherry! happy retirement. Gean

Ogrose, my front yard DID stink. I sprinkled fish emulsion on the roses - and on me. Yech! Even this morning the aroma lingers. Mexican casserole sounds good. At least hubby liked it.

Gean, no alfalfa this time, just fish emulsion in a sprinkling can poured over the bush. I hope it's not too late in the season, but I haven't fed them since June so I thought they needed SOMEthing. I may be wrong, but I look at fish as more of a tonic than fertilizer. Maybe someone will explain it too me. (I still need to take my soil samples in to the extension service.) The Clotilde Souperts are putting on a pretty show.

I've found the fish smell dissipates quicker than the alfalfa and is less offensive.

Supper sounds yummy!

We made the mistake of using fish emulsion once - by the next morning, EVERYWHERE we had put it was dug up to a depth of several inches! Including the lawn! Racoons - "there must be fish under here somewhere!".

Seil, my nose thinks fish is WAYYY worse. Earlier in the week I sprinkled Le Vesuve and then stayed very close to weed the gravel. Oh, man, what a mistake. Hours of smelling that stench taught me to sprinkle when I LEAVING the area.

Jackie, thankfully that hasn't happened. I had hopes that it would offend the stink bugs though. "Take that! I can give the stink right back at you!"

The dogs love it when I use fish fertilizer and spill a little. Maybe it helps that my dad loved to ocean fish and once had a salmon boat in Alaska. But the smell reminds me of the harbor...lol

Kippy, when I read your comment this morning, I thought, "No way any harbor could smell like that!" Then I went out mid-afternoon to weed some more, and it hit me. Having grown up on western Connecticut's Long Island Sound, I know the fragrance of saltwater mud flats which came to mind at every waning whiff of the fish emulsion. At that point it was not unpleasant. So thanks for the memory.
