Tom, they have Lupines at Petals of the Past in Jemison planted by the office. I bought some but I'm in zone 8. They have a website and you can email them.

I carried some Lupine plants (nice big healthy ones) from my Mi garden down to Lillian, but they didn't make it thru the summer. I think like you said, the heat and humidity are to much for them. Or maybe it was even the salt spray in the air??? I haven't seen any Lupines in our area and that should have given me a clue but I am always trying to beat the system. Good luck with yours.

You might be able to grow Lupinus texensis, Texas Bluebonnets.
They will take our heat. The only problem that you might have is that they need sandy soil. So maybe try them in a container.
