The first thing that comes to mind is daylilies. They start blooming here the first of June (maybe a little earlier in your area) and are just now winding down. They are hardy, reliable, long-lived, drought-tolerant and come in hundreds of shades of color. And too, this fall would be an ideal time for planting. Just to be on the safe side, you may want to consider early blooming types.

Not a bloom, but caladiums do really well for me starting around the begining of June.

The showiest thing is my yard right now is Rudbekias...big bronzy ones and the tiny but prolific trilobas. The monarda is pretty,and buddleia, but most of all, the Casa Blanca lilies would be my choice for a wedding. The white caladiums and impations would be pretty in shade. I'm farther north, though, so stick to advice from your area...good luck!

I'm also further north than you, but how about coneflowers in addition to the Rudbekias? Although I start my zinnias from seed, I know some nurseries have large pots of blooming zinnias in June, so you could look for some other annuals like that in your area next year. I also agree the daylilies would be a good choice. There are good mail order sources if you can't find some to your liking in your area.

The nice thing about June in Zone 8 is that there are so many annuals/perennials available at the nurseries and garden centers. You can purchase them in May and they should be looking really nice in June. Some of my favorite shrubs which are quite colorful and do well in full sun and the heat of Z8 are gold mound spirea and golden abelia. If she plants them this year, they will almost double in size for next year (or at least mine did). The gold mound spirea is limey-colored and has pretty tiny pink flowers. The golden abelia is incredible -- has red stems and chartreause to gold leaves with little white flowers. I have contrasting annuals around the shrubs -- pink begonias look nice against the lime of the spirea. My zinnias look nice next to the abelia and they were planted by seed and I believe they were blooming nicely in June. I believe my Shasta Daisies were blooming in June too.

How about phlox? Lots and lots of white phlox. My hydrangeas bloom in June, but I'm just barely in zone 8 - was at the southern edge of zone 7 until they changed the zones a couple of years ago.

I am north of Montgomery and in June I had daylilies, lantana, hydrangea, sweet williams, gerber daisies and althea blooming. I also had coneflowers blooming in my herb bed.

Hi, I,m new to gardening .And I live in Mobile.What,s blooming and been blooming since june.Are my Oleanders, Arabic Jasmines,Vincas,Hibicuses,Cascading Roses(pink&red),
Mandaville vine and also Passionvines. Not sure but I think Angel Trumpets bloom in June in this area also. Though I just planted mine in June this year.

Nelson's right on the money with daylilies. Late May, early June is peak season for daylilies in Z8 AL. Also Asiatic and LA hybrid true lilies bloom during this time. Fall planting for both should give you blooms for next yr.
