WSing Sage question

I ws'ed sage seeds from 2009 exactly 10 days ago. I have seen no sign of germination. The seed packet indicates that germination should have occurred by this time. Should I count this as a loss and reseed? Thx for your comments/suggestions.

I sure wouldn't give up on them this soon. I don't know for sure but given that you WS them, they may need longer to germinate. The seed pack has the germination rate at a specific temperature, probably a soil temp as high as 68 degrees. With WS, the soil isn't that warm so the seeds germinate more slowly as the soil inside the jugs gradually warms up. I WS sage on 3/6 and have no sign of sprouts in any of my jugs. I didn't even bother to look at the seed pack planting instructions because I WS them and the instructions aren't written for WS.
We're in the same zone; I'd give them more time. Do you have the WS jugs in direct sun? Mine are in full shade.

Thanks for the input, gardenweed. I will give them some time. Currently, I have them in shaded spots on the southwest side of my home.

The instructions on the packet, assume that you are sowing indoors, or direct sowing outdoors after the last frost date. They do not apply to wintersowing in containers outdoors.

My salvias are just starting to sprout after being sown from December to last week. It can take some time for some of the salvias, so just hang tight. It'll happen.

    Token,
    Which salvias are you growing?
Last year I had red, white and blue, and Yvonne's red.
I decided I didn't like the red (except for Yvonne's red) cuz the leaves and stem turn brown very early and look ugly.

By contrast the blue (the blue is perennial) and the white stayed green right up until the end.

So I am going to sow blue and white.

I will have a million gazillion red that re-seed, and am trying to prevent that by digging up the bed and adding more soil and newspaper. I have a feeling no matter what, I will be pulling them up.

Thanks Token. If yours are just now beginning to sprout, that suggests to me we've got a few more weeks possibly before seeing sprouts here in Zone 6. I've got most of my jug jungle in shade either on the east-facing breezeway or along the north foundation of the garage. Under those conditions, only bachelor button, lupine and poppy are sprouting so far. From what I've read on this forum, those are the usual "early birds." My salvia was WS in February.

Salvia subrotunda, coccinea (Coral Nymph and an unknown purple), Yvonne's, officianalis, and a few others I've yet to sow. I think there are 7 or 8 others that need to be sown soon. I only have a few seeds of each of those and haven't gotten around to them yet. Maybe Monday.

Gosh, I don't have one single sprout yet,but I am not worried, all my containers were in the shade,I just brought them out to the warmth of the sun, so, any day now.
I am anxious with antisipation, what will sprout first, can't wait to see.
